Each year Edmunds.com, a respected internet and magazine provider of automotive information, polls consumers for their picks of the year's top 10 luxury and other class motor vehicles. The reviews, based on ownership and road tests, are the direct results of consumer polling. When Edmunds posted the 2010 consumer favorites in luxury sedans, Mercedes-Benz E Class, the Lexus LS 460, the BMW 7 series, the BMW 5 Series, and the Audi A8 topped the list.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Edmunds reports that several things have changed on the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but nothing more impressive than the price difference between the 2010 E550 sedan and the '09 edition. The new Mercedes Benz E-Class sees Mercedes reverse its rising prices and fading quality. The new E-Class has the same comfort as the previous model, and the new inside look imitates the more expensive S-Class.
Lexus LS 460
The LS launched the Lexus brand 20 years ago. Today, the LS is available in regular and extended wheelbase body styles. The LS interior is exceptionally opulent. Although all luxury cars offer supple leather, the grade of upholstery in the LS seems to be a step up from others. After 20 years, the Lexus LS 460 is still a successful luxury sedan.
BMW 7 Series
In 2009, British Motors fully redesigned the BMW 7 series. BMW replaced the old iDrive control system with a much improved version. The 2010 interior is spacious and superior in comfort. Luxury features such as a night vision camera and side-view cameras are among the many new additions.
BMW 5 Series
The 2010 BMW 5 Series is nearing the end of its career. Although a completely redesigned model will soon debut, the BMW 5 remains one of the finest vehicles on the road. It still manages to be a top draw in premium midsize luxury sedans. The 2010 BMW 5 Series is a member of the family of the 528i, 535i, 550i sedans, and the 535i xDrive wagon.
Audi A8
According to Edmunds listing, the Audi A8 is number 5 in the year's luxury sedans. The full-size luxury sedan features a flawless interior of leather, wood, and LED lights embellishing the well rounded cabin. The A8 has standard all-wheel drive and features WiFi along with Bang and Olufsen entertainment equipment. A pop-up screen in the dashboard has a CD/DVD drive and iPod connectivity. A hard disk stores the navigation system's maps as well as music and movies. Rear seat entertainment features two screens mounted on the back of the front seats.
