The BMW 740 is a model of the 7-series line of luxury sedan vehicles produced by the German automaker. It is the flagship car of the BMW range and the car in which the newest technologies are introduced, before being filtered down to the other models in the series. The iDrive audio system in the 740 is top of the range and incorporates the latest features to provide a rich audio experience.
System
The iDrive audio system incorporates a high-fidelity 10-speaker sound system. Bass is provided by two subwoofers located under the front seats, and the system also includes a 205-watt digital 7-channel amplifier.
Features
A high definition (HD) radio enables the system to receive digital AM/FM broadcasts with clear static-free sound. The iDrive system also incorporates a CD player, a DVD player and a telephone connection. All features are accessible through the iDrive computer system.
Control
The iDrive system is controlled by an auxiliary input, located inside the center console next to the gear lever. This is the only audio controller with no additional buttons, making the system simple to use. Certain features of the system can also be voice activated for hands-free control.
Memory
The system has a 12 GB hard drive for storage of the driver's media files. Files are transferred to the hard drive via a USB port located on the system.
