The invoice price of a vehicle is the price that a dealership pays a car manufacturer for a vehicle. Most of the time dealerships have to add additional cost to a car in order to make a profit. Occasionally, however, dealerships are able to work with car companies to cut special deals that allow them to sell vehicles at or below the invoice price. Knowing the invoice price will work to your advantage any time you are looking at purchasing a new vehicle.

Instructions

    1

Ask the sales representative whom you are dealing with if he is able to cut you a deal. He may be willing to tell you the invoice price of the car. Note that sales people often work on commission, though, and for this reason may not be looking to give you the best deal possible if they can make an additional profit on the car.

    2

Email or call the manager of the dealership directly. Remember that unless the dealership is receiving aid from the manufacturer, they will probably not be able to sell the car at the invoice price. For this reason, the manager may not be willing to share the information with you directly.

    3

Visit a website that offers vehicle price information, such as Edmunds, Kelley Blue Book, or Yahoo! Autos. Find the invoice price of the vehicle you are interested in by searching for it in the database on one of the sites.
