The Uplander is a van offered by Chevrolet from 2005 through 2008. The vehicle has a five-star crash test rating from the NHTSA. There are several options for the 2008 vehicle for both the regular and extended wheel base models of the Uplander LS. The options apply to the interior, exterior and safety of the vehicle with additional dealer installed accessories available to the buyer.

Exterior and Interior Options

The Uplander LS has a few options for the exterior and interior of the vehicle. One option are heated rear-view mirrors, which are useful in areas with colder climates and frequent frost and ice. Other options include tinted windows and a rear defogger. Some of these options require the buyer to purchase the "Climate Package" for the Uplander and are not available separately.

Engine Options

The Uplander comes standard with a V-6 gasoline engine. However, with the rising popularity of alternative fuels such as E85 ethanol, the Uplander comes with the option to purchase a "FlexFuel" engine that can take gasoline or E85 ethanol.

Safety Options

There is one option to enhance the safety features of the vehicle. The vehicle comes standard with airbags in the front driver and passenger sides. However, the buyer can elect the option of having side-impact airbags as well as the standard airbags. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, side impact airbags can reduce injuries to the driver from a side impact accident from 10 to 45 percent.

Accessories

In addition to the dealer options for the Uplander, there are many accessories available from the dealers. Some examples include ski carriers, power seats and remote starting systems.
