How Do I Get Used Car Specifications?

Whether you want to know more about a used car before buying it or are interested in selling your car, you can find helpful information at Edmunds.com. The Edmunds website provides specifications on used cars to help buyers and sellers determine the worth of a vehicle. It is more accurate than the oft-cited Kelley Blue Book in determining appropriate prices because it states what a used car was actually sold for rather than what it should theoretically sell for.

Instructions

    1

Type "www.edmunds.com" into the address bar of your web browser. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to open the website.

    2

Click the picture that most resembles the used car you're looking for. Note the shape and number of doors on the car.

    3

Click the size category that best describes the car. Estimate now, but you may have to return to this step if you choose incorrectly.

    4

Click the year when the car was made. Options span the last 20 years as of 2010, so you may only complete this process if the car was made within that time.

    5

Click the first drop-down menu on the right side of the page and click the make of the car to select it. Select the model of the car by repeating this with the second drop-down menu.

    6

Click the "Back" button on your browser to return to the page in step 3 if the car you're looking for doesn't appear. Repeat steps 3 through 5 until the car appears on the page.

    7

Narrow your search by clicking "automatic" or "manual" in the menu on the left side of the page to indicate the type of transmission the car has. Click the style of the car on the list in the middle of the page, noting the number of doors if there are multiple lists.

    8

Click the links on the left menu of the page to view the specifications you want to see. The "Prices in Your Area" link is preselected.
