The Mazda RX-7 Spirit R was a limited edition model developed for the last year of production of the RX-7 line in 2002. The Spirit R came in three types. Type A was a two-seater with five-speed manual transmission. Type B was a four-seater with five-speed manual transmission. Type C was a four-seater with four-speed automatic transmission.

Power and Performance

    The Spirit R boasts a 1.308 liter fuel injection twin turbo engine with rear wheel drive. The compression ratio is 9.0. The maximum power offered by Types A and B of the Spirit R is 280 PS at 6500 rpm. Type C has a maximum power of 255 PS at 6500 rpm. The maximum torque of Types A and B is 314 Newton meters at 5000 rpm. Type C's maximum torque is 294 PS at 5000 rpm. Types A and B have a final gear ratio of 4.300 while Type C's is 3.909.

Drivetrain

    The Spirit R offers a unitary steel body. The suspension is made of double wishbones in the front and coil springs in the rear of the vehicle. The brakes are all ventilated discs. Power steering includes a rack-and-pinion system.

Weight and Dimensions

    The exterior dimensions of the Spirit R are 168.7 inches in length, 69.29 inches in width and 48.43 inches in height. The standard weight for the Spirit R is 2,799.87 pounds. The minimum turning radius is 16.7 feet.
