Ford produces a 5.0-liter, 302-cc engine. The first Ford 302 engine was created in 1968. Today, it is available from Ford's Racing division as a crate motor, which comes from the supplier pre-assembled and ready for installation. The Boss 302, as Ford calls it, is a small block engine that comes in three different versions.

M-6007-X302E

The M-6007-X302E engine produces a total of 340 horsepower and comes with 310 foot-lbs. of torque. The compression ratio for this engine is 9.0 to 1.

M-6007-X302B

The M-6007-X302B engine with 345 horsepower has 310 foot-lbs. of torque as well. At 9.0 to 1, it has the same compression ratio as the 340-horsepower engine. The horsepower is the only real difference between the M-6007-X302B and the M-6007-X302E.

M-6007-Z302Z

Ford also produces the 390-horsepower M-6007-Z302Z crate engine. It has 360 foot-lbs. of torque and a 10.0-to-1 compression ratio. Its displacement of 5 liters and 4-inch lightweight forged pistons are about the only things it shares in common with Ford's other 302 engines.
