Minnesota requires you, as an owner of a passenger vehicle, including passenger vans and three-quarter ton pickups, to register your new vehicle. You may register your new car at one of the 170 deputy registrar offices located throughout the state. The deputy registrar issues you plates and registration stickers, which are also known as tabs, at the time of application. Hastings, Minnesota, has one registrar office.

Instructions

    1

Drive to the Hastings registrar office at 1250 North Frontage Road.

    2

Fill out form PS2000 "Application to Title and Register a Motor Vehicle." The vehicle registrar will provide the form for you. If you want to fill it out ahead of time, download the electronic version from the Department of Public Safety's website (see Resources). The vehicle's owner as listed on the title must sign the completed form.

    3

Give the completed form plus your vehicle's title, your odometer reading and a driver's license or acceptable form of identification to the registrar.

    4

Pay the required fee, which the state determines based on your vehicle's make, model and year.
