For 2010, BMW's luxury 7 Series comes in two distinct models, the 750i and Li and the 760Li. The major difference between the two models is the engine size. However, it is important to note that the 760 can be longer, by 5.5 inches than the 750, due to the fact that the Li (long wheelbase) is an option on the 750, but standard to the 760. When it comes to comfort and convenience, the 760Li is the top of the line model. Many purchase options for the 750 are standard equipment on the better equipped 760Li.
Engine
The 750i and Li have a 400-horsepower, 4.4-liter V-8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission with auto-manual shift. The 760Li features a turbocharged 544-horsepower, 6.0-liter V12 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Standard Features
The 750i and Li and the 760Li possess the luxury features that BMW drivers are accustomed to, including adaptive Xenon lights and adaptive adjustable suspension, parking sensors in the front and rear, rain sensing wipers, sunroof, power heated mirrors and a keyless ignition. For driver and passenger comfort, four-zone automatic climate control, 14-way-adjustable front seats, front seat memory functions, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, heated front seats, wood trim and leather upholstery.
When it comes to electronics, BMW has standard Bluetooth, iDrive, a voice-activated hard-drive-based navigation system with real-time traffic updates and a 10-speaker surround-sound stereo with HD radio, an auxiliary audio jack and digital music storage.
Exclusive to the 750Li
Besides being slightly roomier, the Li gives and extra 5.5 inches in length, a self-leveling air suspension is available on the 750Li. The longer wheelbase is primarily noticed by the rear passengers, who are afforded more room in this model.
750i and Li Options
If the standard features won't do, additional packages can be purchased that add select features on to the 750. The M Sport package adds active roll stabilization, your choice of either 19- or 20-inch performance tires (the standard 7 Series wheel size is 18 inch), a sportier steering wheel and aerodynamic body styling. The cold weather package includes a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats, plus a ski bag for the trunk pass-through. The luxury seating package includes all of the cold weather package features in addition to rear sunshades, ventilated front seats and active adjustable driver seat bolsters. The convenience package adds a power trunk lid and soft-close doors. The driver assistance package adds a blind-spot warning system, lane departure warning and automatic high beams. The camera package adds rear and side view parking cameras. The Premium Sound package upgrades to sound system to a 16-speaker system and also adds an iPod/USB audio jack, a six-CD/DVD changer.
The 760Li
Standard to the top of the line 760Li is all of the standard and optional features available to the 750 (except the M sport Package). In addition, the 760Li features active four-wheel steering, power-adjustable rear seats, heated and ventilated seats all around, a leather-covered dashboard, satellite radio, a power trunk lid and a head-up display.
