The 2001 Ford Ranger was introduced at a time when the Ranger was the best selling truck in its class for 13 years in a row. The 2001 Ranger featured a bolder appearance, added power, slightly better fuel economy and a smoother ride.

Styles

    The 2001 Ranger was available in a regular cab and an extended cab. In total, there were 43 different styles, including an "Edge" style designed to appeal to younger drivers.

Drivetrain

    The 2001 Ranger was made available in both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive models.

Engine

    Several types of engines were available for the 2001 Ranger. These included: A 2.5-liter Inline 4 capable of a maximum horsepower of 5,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 3,000 rpm; a 3.0-liter V6 with a maximum horsepower of 5,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 3,750 rpm; and a 4.0-liter V6 with a 5,250 rpm maximum horsepower and 3,000 rpm maximum torque.

Towing Capacity

    The 2001 Ranger's maximum towing capacity ranged from 5,620 pounds for the XLT off-road model to 6,015 pounds for the XL 4WD off-road model.

Exterior Dimensions

    The XL Regular Cab rear-wheel-drive model has a length of 187.5 inches, a height of 64.9 inches, a width of 69.4 inches and a curb weight of 3,085 pounds.
