How to Order a New BMW

If you want to buy a BMW right away, you can go to a dealership and see what cars are available on the lot for immediate purchase. However, BMW offers a number of different options for its cars, and the odds of you finding the exact configuration of car you want on a lot might be slim, even at the largest dealerships. If you are willing to wait, you can order a custom-designed car from BMW, either at your local dealership or using European delivery.

Instructions

    1

Research your vehicle. When you order a new BMW, you must provide specific instructions on the options that you want. With most BMWs you can choose everything from the color of the paint to the type of suspension. For example, according to Forbes, BMW has more than 9,000 options just for the center console. Knowing which options you want ahead of time will prevent you from missing or forgetting them when you place your actual order.

    2

Visit your local dealership. Although research is an important first step, actually seeing or feeling as many options as you can will help you determine what you want in your order. While no dealership will have every available option on display, if you can shop around you should have no trouble finding many of the more common options such as a navigation system.

    3

Ask about European delivery. As BMW is a German car company, you can order and receive your car in Europe before shipping it home to America. Under this program, you can often receive a discount off the car's list price and receive a free plane ticket for your traveling companion, according to BMW.

    4

Place your order. Once you have made your choices, order your specific BMW either with your local dealer or on the European delivery section of the BMW website. You can also order your BMW directly online if you live in Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy or the United Arab Emirates, according to BMW.

    5

Wait. American delivery is usually a few weeks faster, but European delivery can take up to 10 weeks if you live on the West Coast. It will delivered to the nearest BMW center.
