How to Find the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price on a Car

When automobile manufacturers produce cars, they offer them for sale at MSRP, or the manufacturer's suggested retail price. There are two easy ways to find a vehicle's MSRP, as well as ways to find the average purchase price or invoice price for the vehicle.

Instructions

    1

Visit the vehicle manufacturer's website. The MSRP will be clearly printed next to the model you are looking at. Note that the information is typically the starting MSRP, or the price of the base model. If you select the "build your own" option you can build a model with the options you want, and will be able to see the MSRP for your customized model.

In addition to the model and MSRP information, there is a "special offers" section that lets you see rebates the manufacturer is offering in your area.

    2

Visit your local dealership. All cars are equipped with a window sticker that provides clear information on the vehicle's standard features, installed options, fuel efficiency and MSRP. The MSRP will be in the lower right corner of the window sticker. It will reflect any add-ons from the dealer and options on the vehicle. To find the MSRP of the model you like, look at the window sticker that is usually affixed to the passenger window.

    3

Visit an independent website such as Edmunds, com and look up the vehicle you are interested in. Edmunds will display the MSRP as well the invoice price, and usually have a review of the vehicle.
