The Toyota Corolla is one of the most well-known and reliable compact cars, first released in the U.S. in 1966. Sales are holding steady, as of 2010, as the Corolla continues to be the choice for many buyers, both in America and overseas.

Engine, Suspension and Brakes

    The standard engine in the 2010 Corolla is a 1.8-liter, double over head cam 16-valve, with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). This four-cylinder compact produces 132 horsepower with a torque of 128 ft.-lbs. at 4,400 RPM. The Corolla is considered an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle II (ULEV-II). The minimum running ground clearance 5.8 inches. The Corolla has 38.8 inches of front headroom (37.9 with a moon roof) and 37.2 inches (37.1 with moon roof) in the rear. It also has 54.8 inches of shoulder room in the front and 54.6 in the rear, 53 inches of hip room in the front and 43.9 inches in the rear and 41.7 inches of legroom in the front and 36.3 in the rear. Seating capacity in the Corolla is five adults with a total passenger volume in cubic feet, with moon roof, of 92 inches.
