1988 Honda Accord Car Specifications

The 1988 Honda Accord is a midsized car produced as part of what many consider the "third generation" of Accords, which were manufactured from 1986 to 1989. The body style was introduced in Japan in 1985 and in North America and Europe in 1986. It was available in most of the world's automobile markets. How to Give Deposits When Buying Used Cars

When you are shopping for a new vehicle, you may find a suitable used car but need to look for financing or delay the purchase for another reason. The seller may agree to hold the car if you are willing to put down a deposit. This money shows you are sincere about returning and buying the vehicle. The deposit amount is usually negotiable, and you should make sure the terms are spelled out so you will get your money back if something keeps you from completing the purchase.

Get the car inspected by a qualified, independent mechanic. Don't take the seller's word about its condition; you cannot hold him to verbal promises. Don't give any deposit money unless the car is confirmed to be in good condition.

Insist on a modest deposit amount. It should not take more than $500, although it may be best to offer $100 first and only go up if the dealer insists.

Ask whether the deposit is refundable and whether this will be indicated on the receipt before handing over the money. Local banks sell repossessed cars both directly to interested buyers and at auction. Usually, these auctions are listed in local newspapers and trade publications. You may also contact the banks directly about whether they hold such auctions. In some cases, banks sell repossessed cars directly to used-car companies, so you may want to contact local lots in your area about any deals.

Compare the prices set at auction for cars to their Kelley Blue Book value. The Kelley Blue Book is the most widely accepted guide for pricing used cars. If a repossessed car is selling at auction for less than its Blue Book value, you may be able to sell it to a used-car dealer at a profit.

Contact local banks and credit unions and ask whether they have any repossessed cars for sale. They may also be willing to extend an auto loan to cover the sale at a rate discount.

Ensure that you are able to inspect the vehicle before you purchase it or bid on it. Individuals who know that their car may be repossessed rarely take care of their vehicles well. Ask the bank whether any maintenance has been performed since repossession. You will have no recourse if the vehicle fails to function properly after you purchase it. If you lack mechanical expertise, hire a mechanic to come with you to examine the car before finalizing your purchase.

Ford Freestyle Specs

Ford manufactured the Freestyle from 2005 to 2007. This crossover was a station wagon, SUV and minivan in one. The manufacturer produced the Ford Freestyle in three trim levels and seven color schemes. The fuel-efficient vehicles can get up to 24 mpg, depending on the model.

Clean the car if you are in the other country prior to shipping it. If not, ask the person who is selling the car to make sure it is completely clean. This is required in order to prevent the entry of foreign soil that may come with the imported vehicle. This helps guard against infestations that may be brought about by pests that may come with the soil in the undercarriages.

Arrange where you will conduct the customs formalities. In theory customs procedures should take place in the first port of call. However, if this is inconvenient for you, you may hire a freight forwarder to bring the vehicle to a more convenient customs port. The duty for a Mini Cooper will be that of a standard car, so about 2.5 percent of the purchase price.

S-10 Chevrolet Specs

General Motors produced the Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck from 1982 to 2004. Production for the South American market continued through 2010 in Brazil. The compact S-10 competed directly against the Ford Ranger. Its sibling, the GMC Sonoma, differed little in styling, options and equipment except for the nameplate. Chevrolet replaced the S-10 in the 2005 model year with the Chevrolet Colorado and its twin, the GMC Canyon.

Chevrolet offered buyers the S-10 in regular cab, extended cab and four-door crew cab configurations. Long-bed and short-bed versions were available. The rugged four-wheel-drive ZR2 package equipped the S-10 with huge off-road tires and beefed up suspension system to handle tough terrain.

A standard 2.2-liter in-line four-cylinder engine with a 9:1 compression ratio powers the 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup. The cylinder bore measures 3.5 inches and the stroke is 3.46 inches. A fuel-injection system delivers the fuel to the engine to provide 120 horsepower and 140 ft.-lb. of torque. Torque is the twisting force inside the engine that provides pulling power and fast acceleration. A 165-horsepower 4.3-liter V6 was an option on the two-wheel-drive models and standard equipment on the four-wheel-drive S-10 models. The crew cab model had its V6 boosted to 190 horsepower. The final drive axle ratio is 3.73:1 on two-wheel-drive versions.

Chevrolet placed the S-10 regular cab on a wheelbase measuring 108.3 inches. The overall length of the truck is 190 inches. The height is 62 inches and width is 67.9 inches. The frame clears the ground by 7.2 inches. The truck weighs 3,009 lbs. The cargo box measures 72.4 inches long and 54.8 inches wide. The extended cab version features a 122.9-inch wheelbase, but the cargo box measures only 55.2 inches long.

The regular cab provides reasonable room for two people and a tight squeeze for three. The headroom measures 39.5 inches, with hip room offering 53.6 inches. Legroom is adequate at 42.4 inches with front shoulder room measuring 56.8 inches.

The 2003 Chevrolet S-10 comes with partial body-painted front and rear bumpers, daytime running lights, halogen headlamps, external-adjusted black door mirrors, heat-reflective tinted windows and towing kit. Also included as standard equipment are air conditioning, a four-speaker Delco AM/FM radio, cruise control, driver and passenger airbags, split cloth bench seat and three-point seat belts.

How to Convert Tire Size to RPM Speed

Revolutions per minute (RPM), the engine speed, measures how quickly a vehicle's gears rotate. This value directly relates to the vehicle's total linear speed, and it relates inversely to the tire's size. The axles of a car with larger tires rotate less speedily, assuming that the vehicle velocity is constant. Derive engine speed from the tire size and the vehicle speed.

Instructions

Multiply the vehicle's speed in miles per hour by 1,056. For instance, if it travels at 50 miles per hour:

50 * 1,056

= 52,800

Divide the answer by pi.

52,800 / 3.14159

= 16,807

Divide the result by 2:

16,807 / 2

= 8,403

Divide the answer by the tire radius, in inches. If the tire measures 8 inches in radius:

8,403 / 8

= 1,050

This answer is the engine speed in RPM.

BMW 318 Specs

The BMW 3 Series is a compact executive line of cars that has been manufactured by the German carmaker since 1975. It is the most popular car of the BMW models, accounting for nearly 40 percent of all cars sold by BMW in 2005. The 318 is one of BMW 3 Series models.

The BMW 318 has a 1.9-liter in-line four-cylinder engine that has 138 horsepower. It comes with a standard five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic transmission. A 14.5 gallon fuel tank runs on premium unleaded fuel, providing a fuel economy of 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. It has an 80-amp alternator and a 65-amp battery.

The BMW 318 provides a sports ride with front strut suspension, front and rear coil springs and front and rear anti-roll bars. The steering is a rack-and-pinion system and the brakes are a four-wheel disc setup, with front vented disc brakes. The wheels are 16-inch steel hubs. The car also includes a four-wheel anti-lock braking system.

The interior of the BMW 318 has a seating capacity of five with heated front driver and passenger seats and six-way seat direction controls. The easy-entry rear seats are a 50:50 bench with adjustable headrests. The trim of the car is leatherette on the doors, a full cloth headliner and a cloth/leather combination trim on the seats. The floor trim is carpet and the gear knob has a leather trim.

The BMW 318 can be equipped with a power or manual sunroof, with dual-illuminated vanity mirrors and a day/night tilt rearview mirror. There are reading lights in the front and rear and a fading dome light. Cup holders are available in the front, and the car includes a seat storage area on the back of both front seats. Manual air conditioning is available in the front. The audio system includes an CD compatible AM//FM receiver radio with cassette deck and 10-speaker system. A fixed antenna on the roof provides the radio signal. Cruise control is available on the car, with the instrument display being analogue that contains a tachometer, trip computer and engine temperature gauge. Front-impact airbags are included as part of the car's safety devices, with an extra being a high rear braking light.

How Long Do You Have to Return a New Vehicle?

A new car is a major purchase for most of us, and it's important to consider all aspects of the transaction before making a commitment. In most of the U.S., once you have signed a contract, you are stuck with it. However, there are a few exceptions, some of which derive from laws put in place to protect the consumer.

The so-called Lemon Law is in effect in all 50 states. Although the law varies from state to state, the basic law protects the consumer from the manufacturer's breach of warranty. This requires the manufacturer to repair or replace the faulty vehicle or, if that is not possible, to refund the consumer's money. Variations on state laws can be found online -- including the time period in which you may make your claim -- and some states even have lemon laws that extend to used cars as well as new vehicles. Check your state lemon law before you make your purchase (see Reference section).

Few states offer a hard-and-fast buyer's remorse law, although some individual dealerships include it in their contracts. California dealers are required by law to offer the buyer a three-day return policy, although there is a fee imposed. It is best to check with your state's Attorney General's office to find out just what the laws are rather than rely on the car dealership.

Some individual dealerships have an in-house return policy. CarMax, for instance, offers a five-day return policy and although it is not enforced by a state law, it is in their contract and so is enforceable. If a dealer makes you such an offer, make sure you get it in writing rather than just as a verbal promise. As the movie mogul Sam Goldwyn famously said, "A verbal contract ain't worth the paper it's written on."

Remember that in nearly all cases, once you have signed the contract, the car is yours. Also, once you drive it off the lot, it technically becomes a used car, so even if you are allowed to return it, you are most likely going to take a financial hit. There are, however, some exceptions. Some dealership have a 24-hour "back out" clause that allows the buyer to cancel the deal, but only if the car has not yet been delivered. Another exception is when a non-emancipated minor buys a car and the parents don't approve. In most states, that deal can be canceled.

Many people consider buying a new car on a par with getting a root canal. Fortunately, there are ways to make the buying process nearly painless and to ensure that you get your new car for the cheapest possible price. It will take research on your part, but once you are armed with facts and figures you'll be able to buy a new car cheaper.

Research prices in your area so you can recognize a good deal. Car prices vary by model, time of year and location. Visit websites, such as edmunds.com, that have forums where people can report the actual price they have paid for certain makes and models. This will give you a baseline for determining a cheap price.

Print out information to bring along to the dealer. You can get invoice prices from sites with Edmunds and Kelley Blue Book. Print those out, along with forum postings listing recent deals in your area. This will give you ammunition if a dealer tries to insist that you are looking for an unrealistic price.

Find the most recent rebates and incentives on the model for which you are shopping. Look at both consumer promotions and factory to dealer incentives. A dealer may be reluctant to share his incentives with you, but he may do so in order to clinch a sale.

Shop for your car at the end of the month and choose a slow time of year for car sales, if possible. Sales people are often hustled to make their quotas or win incentives as the month draws to a close. They are even more desperate during slow periods, such as the holiday season, when few people are in the market for a car. They will often sell a vehicle cheaper just to get the sale. July through October is also a good time if you are willing to buy the current model year. This is the period when dealers clear old inventory to make way for the next year.

Refuse to pay added fees. A dealer may try to add profit-boosting fees after you have agreed on a price. Edmunds.com says that sales tax and vehicle registration fees are legitimate. However, documentation fees are strictly a way to add profit; they can run several hundred dollars in states where they are not capped. Refuse to pay an excessive documentation fee. If the dealer says it is required by law, let him keep it on the contract, but have him subtract it from the car price.

BMW Styles

BMW cars come in myriad styles and models. Body styles include the coupe, convertible, sedan, touring wagon, roadster and the crossover sport utility vehicles. The 1 Series is an entry-level compact car. The 3 Series is a compact executive car while the 5 Series is a mid-size sedan or touring wagon. The 6 Series is a coupe and 7 Series is a sedan. The Z4 is a roadster, while the X Series is BMW's SUV offering.

The 1 Series became the newest member of the BMW family in 2004 to fill the upscale compact car niche. The 2011 1 Series comes in three- and five-door models, the coupe and convertible. A 122-horsepower two-liter four-cylinder engine powers the 1 Series. The three-door features a hatchback and the five-door model has four doors and the hatchback.

The venerable 3 Series has been part of BMW's lineup since 1975. The 2011 models come as a sedan, touring wagon, coupe and convertible. It's BMW's most popular car due to its compact 108.7-inch wheelbase and fuel-efficient 143-horsepower two-liter four-cylinder engine. The touring style is a four-door station wagon with hatchback. It features an aerodynamic roofline sloping down at the rear.

The 5 Series has been in the BMW stable since 1972 and in 2011 was available as a sedan, touring wagon and the sporty Grand Turismo. The 2011 sedan receives a 205-horsepower three-liter six-cylinder engine. The powerful Grand Turismo comes as the 535i, the 550i, the 530d and the 535d. "i" designates a fuel-injection engine while a "d" stands for diesel. The 407-horsepower 4.4-liter eight-cylinder gasoline engine powers the 550i version.

BMW offers the 2011 6 Series as a coupe or convertible, echoing the 1960s styling of a long hood and short rear deck. A rear spoiler is integrated into the rear deck. It sits on a roomy 112.4-inch wheelbase and measures 192.8 inches long. A three-liter in-line six-cylinder gasoline or diesel engine or the optional 4.8-liter V-8 supplies the power.

The 7 Series is BMW's ultra luxury model. The body panels are more sculpted and the nose more square than the 5 and 6 Series models. Three-liter straight-six diesels or the massive six-liter V-12 provides the power. The car is available in the standard 120.9-inch wheelbase with a total body length of 199.7 inches, or the long wheelbase configuration of 126.4 inches with an overall body length of 205.2 inches.

BMW's Z4 is an open roadster first introduced in 2002. It's only in its second generation and the body style has changed little since its inception. The styling is strictly old-school roadster that pays homage to the 1950s British sports car like the long-hood and stubby boot Austin Healey and the 1960s E-Type Jaguars. BMW markets the Z4 as a personal luxury car. Power comes from a 205-horsepower 2.5-liter straight-six engine.

The X versions of the BMW are crossover sport utility vehicles marketed as "Sport Activity Vehicles." The X1, X3 and X5 models share the same all-wheel-drive 3 Series platform. The 2011 BMW X6 is a "Sport Activity Coupe" although instead of having two doors it's a five-door SUV with a hatchback. The three-liter six or the 4.4-liter V-8 provides the power.

Chevrolet Uplander LS Options

The Uplander is a van offered by Chevrolet from 2005 through 2008. The vehicle has a five-star crash test rating from the NHTSA. There are several options for the 2008 vehicle for both the regular and extended wheel base models of the Uplander LS. The options apply to the interior, exterior and safety of the vehicle with additional dealer installed accessories available to the buyer.

The Uplander LS has a few options for the exterior and interior of the vehicle. One option are heated rear-view mirrors, which are useful in areas with colder climates and frequent frost and ice. There is one option to enhance the safety features of the vehicle. The vehicle comes standard with airbags in the front driver and passenger sides. The History of Ford Mustangs From 1997 to 2006

Perhaps the most significant aspect of the evolution of the 1997 to 2006 Mustangs was Ford finally abandoning the outdated Fox platform in 2005 and returning the car's styling to its 1960s roots. Not only did the 2005 models echo the 1969 model's styling, it brought back performance to the standard models. However, other than this complete overhaul of Ford's flagship car, the seventh and eighth generation Mustangs featured only moderate upgrades.

The 1997 and 1998 Mustangs were carry-overs from the 1996 versions with few changes. A base 150-horsepower 3.8-liter V-6 powered the 1997 models with the optional 225-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 getting an additional 10 horsepower over the 1996 models. The performance SVT Cobra was equipped with a 305-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8. Sales were healthy with 108,344 Mustangs leaving the factory. Sales skyrocketed to 175,522 units in 1998. However, 1998 marked the emergence of a more muscular Mustang with flatter body panels and creased fenders. It foreshadowed what was to come in 2005.

A blip on the Mustang landscape was the 1999 Cobra when rumors circulated that its 320-horsepower 4.6-liter, 32-valve V-8 was actually generating less than 300 horsepower. For 1999, Ford sold 8,095 Cobras, but many owners were demanding new engines or refunds. Ford responded to its customers' demands, but the Cobra's reputation sustained damage and only 454 left showrooms in 2000. Perhaps to make amends in 2000, Ford produced 300 units of the race-ready Cobra R equipped with a 385-horsepower 5.4-liter V-8. In 2001, Mustang introduced its limited edition "Bullitt" Mustang GT coupe as homage to actor Steve McQueen's 1968 Mustang in the film "Bullitt." Its V-8 developed 265 horsepower and it carried special interior and exterior "Bullitt" badging and accents reminiscent of the original car, including the green body color. Ford sold 5,000 Bullitts.

Arriving in 2003 was the Mach 1 equipped with a 300-horsepower V-8, and shaker hood scoop with ram air intake. Ford lowered the body a half inch, firmed up the suspension for better handling and added 17-inch wheels. The cabin featured black leather seats and the exterior's rocker moldings had a black racing stripe with "Mach 1" badging. The Mach 1 could hit 0-to-60 mph in 5.2 seconds and the quarter mile in 14 seconds at 103 mph. Its top speed was an electronically limited 151 mph. Ford produced 9,652 Mach 1s. It sold for $28,995, which was a bargain compared to the $34,750 2003 SVT Cobra.

Ford replaced the Fox platform with the same platform supporting the Lincoln LS and Thunderbird for the retro-styled 2005 and 2006 Mustang. Ford filched the styling of the first-generation Mustang without apologies. It sat lower and wider, its grille was more aggressive and the car seemed to have a forward pitch as if it were ready to pounce. Its roofline, body panels and taillamps harkened the 1965 and 1966 models. Its base 200-horsepower 4-liter V-6 didn't do much, but the 300-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 packed a punch with a 0-to-60 mph clocking of 5.1 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.5 seconds at 103 mph.

Jetta GLI VS GLX

The Volkswagen Jetta GLI is an upscale model with sport trim, performance features and an optional V-6 engine. The GLX was a luxury performance model powered by a V-6 engine and produced through 2005. These models overlapped and shared many characteristics. However, demand for the more expensive GLX dropped by 2002 and Volkswagen discontinued it after 2005.

Volkswagen launched the Jetta in 1979 and it quickly became Volkswagens top seller in North America. By 2000, VW sold 144,853 Jettas. The fourth-generation 1999 to 2005 models proved to be the best-selling and best-looking Jettas to leave the showroom. During this period, buyers could order the GLI with sport-tuned suspension and VWs VR6 engine that developed 174 horsepower in models up to 2001 and then 200 horsepower for the 2002 model year. A 180-horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine also was available. The GLX had the 174-horsepower VR6 engine. For the 2002 model year, the GLI with the VR6 had a sticker price of $22,950. The GLX with the same engine had a $24,700 price tag.

As a sport-tuned vehicle, the 2002 Jetta GLIs standard equipment included sport-tuned suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips, three-spoke leather steering wheel, sport seats, electronic stabilization program, or ESP, manual air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, or ABS, and power windows and locks. It had a standard cruise control system, although it lacked controls on the steering wheel. However, the GLI came equipped with a standard sport steering wheel, while the GLX did not. The GLI used a six-speed manual transmission.

The 2002 GLX received all the GLIs standard equipment, except the 17-inch wheels. The GLX rode on 16-inch alloy wheels; the 17-inchers were an option. In addition to the GLIs standard package, the GLX came with traction control, rain-sensing wipers, significantly more leather accents in the cabin, automatic air conditioning and traction control. The 2002 GLX also had eight-way power seats compared with the GLIs six-way power. The GLX had an express tilting glass and open/close sliding sunroof, while the GLI had no such feature. VW mounted its cruise control on the steering wheel for finger-touch access. The GLX came with a five-speed auto-manual Tiptronic automatic with overdrive transmission.

The 2002 Jetta GLX featured some additional amenities compared with the GLI model. The GLX came with a genuine wood instrument panel insert, console insert and door panel insert, genuine wood trim on the gearshift knob, and power reclining driver and front passenger seats. The GLI included a full leather seat package like the GLX, but had no genuine wood inserts or the power reclining seats.

Equipped with the 200-horsepower VR6 engine, the 2002 Jetta GLI models could achieve zero to 60 mph in 7.02 seconds and the quarter-mile in 15.59 seconds at 88.74 mph.

The 2002 Jetta GLX with the same VR6 could hit 60 mph from a standstill in 7.5 seconds, outpacing the 2001 VW Passat GLS, which achieved the same distance in 8 seconds. It covered the quarter-mile in 15.89 seconds at 87.25 mph.

What Are the Mazda Models?

Mazda, first known as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd first came into existence in 1920 by it's founder Jujiro Matsuda. The company began manufacturing machine tools, then eventually trucks and other automobiles. The company changed its name to Mazda, which stands for Ahurza Mazda, an early Western-Asian god, according to the Mazda website. The 2011 Mazda2 is an economy-based vehicle with a base price at $14,180 at the time of publication. The Mazda 3 also comes with a five-door model, which starts at $20,045 and offers a different design. It looks similar to a mix between a car and SUV.

The Mazda Speed3 doesn't get its name for being a slow vehicle. It offers a 263 horsepower engine with 280 foot-pounds of torque. Coming in at a starting price of $23,700, at the time of publication, the Mazda Speed3 is sure to appease adrenaline seekers. Several unique external features include hood scoop, rear spoiler, lightweight aluminum-alloy wheels and performance Y-speed tires. Other features include dual climate control, Bluetooth phone and audio, Bose Audio and compact navigation system.

The Mazda5 is a mini-van. It seats up to six passengers and offers a nimble, but spacious experience. The starting price for the Mazda5 is $19,195 and ranges up to $23,975 for the Grand Touring addition at the time of publication. The engine offers 157 horsepower and either six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. The Mazda5 has up to 44.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the back-row seats folded down. Standard features are available such as leather seats, heated seats, air-conditioning and Bluetooth capabilities.

The Mazda6 is a high-end sports sedan ranging in price from $19,990 to $29,320, at the time of publication. Two engine models are available; the first engine is 170 horsepower 2.5 liter and the second engine is 272 horsepower, 3.7 liter. Not only is the Mazda6 a high performer, but it also offers many high-end luxury features; such as keyless entry and start, back-up camera and navigation system with a 7-inch touch screen.

Chrysler Corporation decided to introduce the Dodge Neon in January 1994 in response to the success of Japanese automakers in the U.S. with their compact cars. The 1995 Dodge Neon became a popular choice as the very first model-year entry for the budget-minded driver, particularly those who wanted cheaper, domestic alternatives to high performance cars with foreign nameplates. It has five trims: the base sedan, the Highline coupe and sedan, and the Sport coupe and sedan.

All Dodge Neon trims have a 2-liter, 131-horsepower 4-cylinder engine, with the exception of the Sport Coupe, which has 19 more horses. The standard transmission is a 5-speed manual overdrive, with some cars fitted with the optional 3-speed automatic gearbox. Gas mileage for Neons with the manual transmission is at 29/38 mpg, while the ones with automatic transmissions have a fuel economy of 29/33 mpg.

Standard interior features include tilt steering, tachometer, air conditioning and radio system. The features that are standard in several compact and mid-size cars of the day that are missing, however, are such features as cruise control, power windows and CD players.

While the base sedan and Highline entries have 13-inch steel wheels, the Sport entries have 14-inch alloy ones. Also, the Sport Neons have rear window defoggers. However, other popular exterior features are not made available such as interval wipers and fog lights--or even rear spoilers for the Sport vehicles.

The 1995 Dodge Neon is rather sparse in safety features. The car has driver and passenger airbags, with the Sport trim having additional power door locks and ABS brakes.

Resale value is comparatively low for the Dodge Neon, and buying one is awfully cheap. A Dodge Neon, as of 2010, can be purchased for $1,600 to $2,000; it originally had a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) range of $9,000 to $12,000. The downside is that reliability for Dodge Neons, in general, according to Edmunds.com, is below average.

United States regulations require any exported goods to pass through a customs procedure. Much like filling out a customs form before mailing out a package overseas, customs laws regarding the exportation of motor vehicles have specific guidelines to establish ownership. The car's title is considered the highest possible form of proof because a state department, the Department of Motor Vehicles, issues it.

Find the appropriate freight carrier for your vehicle. For international exports this will be either by plane or by ship. You can easily find large freight shipping companies online, such as Transit Systems Inc. or Pakmail.

Arrange a pick up or packaging location with the freight company. A customs official will be present at any international ports, otherwise contact your local customs official.

Fill out the Vehicle Export Worksheet found on the United States Border Patrol website to turn in to the customs official.

Leave the customs approved vehicle and paperwork with the appropriate freight company official to be packaged and shipped.

How to Ship a Car From Japan to the USA

Due to the differences in pricing, exporting a car from Japan and shipping it to the United States has become increasingly common in recent years. With low import tariffs and straightforward bureaucratic procedures, shipping a car to the United States can be trouble-free. Following a few simple guidelines, however, is recommended before and during the shipping process, as both the United States and Japan have stringent import and export procedures that must be followed.

Check if your car is eligible for importation and that it is road-legal for the United States. A list of cars eligible for importation is published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. Although vehicles from Japan are right-hand drive (that is, the driver sits on the right-hand side of the car), most models are legal for U.S. roads.

Purchase your car through a registered importer, a list of which may be found on the NHTSA website. A registered importer will carry out all the necessary modifications that are needed to make your car road-legal (for example, switching from a metric speedometer). They will also arrange for the shipment of your car as well as carrying out any of the relevant bureaucratic paperwork.

Pay the import duty for your vehicle, which is often invoiced to you by your registered importer. Import duty for a car arriving in the United States is 2.5% of the present value of the car. How to Import Salvage Cars

Once a salvage car is imported into a country, it is issued a salvage title in order to make potential buyers aware that it is a salvaged car.

Take the car, documents and receipts to an authorized inspection center. There should be a list of inspection centers available from the Registrar of Imported Vehicles. Check with your state DMV whether you are able to register a salvaged car. For salvaged vehicles there is a time frame of one year after the car has been imported to get it inspected. The inspector will stamp your documents and you must take them to a licensing office to get the vehicle licensed and ready to be driven.

The torque can manage 350 foot pounds at 2,500 rpm. The V10 engine has a gross hp of 350 at 4,250 rpm. The torque measurement 420 foot pounds at 3,250 rpm. The V8 engine has five main bearings while the larger has six. The smaller engine has 330 cubic inches of air and fuel intake displacement while the V10 has a 415 ci displacement.

Front-row passengers can expect 42 inches of head room, 68.1 inches of shoulder room and 65.6 inches of hip room. Due to expansive seats and a dip in the van ceiling, successive seats after the first row offer more hip and shoulder room but shorter head room. The fifth row offers the least room in all dimensions with 37.4 inches of head room, 67.5 inches of shoulder room and 37 inches of hip room in the smallest corner.
